Terrorist Anders Behring Breivik Used Modern Warfare 2 as “Training-Simulation” – Kills over 90

Over 85 people were killed at a shooting yesterday in Oslo, Norway. The shooter – Anders Behring Breivik, opened fire at a youth camp, shortly after setting off a bomb which killed 7 at a government building.
Anders Behring Breivik has said he uses Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to train combat skills for an upcoming war with Islam, according to a 1,500 page manifesto that he wrote prior to the attacks. He has also used his addiction with World of Warcraft as a cover story for plotting the attacks. He states that Modern Warfare 2 is a great training simulator for actual operations.
“I just bought Modern Warfare 2, the game. It is probably the best military simulator out there and it’s one of the hottest games this year. … I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else. I’ve still learned to love it though and especially the multiplayer part is amazing. You can more or less completely simulate actual operations.”
Breivik also states he played Fallout 3, BioShock 2 and Dragon Age: Origins, however with no relations to training.

This is a false flag operation to set up by world organizations. This is set up to do what this article states and go after people and their rights. All of a sudden gamers are terrorist. He seems to be forgetting about the aim assist, regenerating health, easy reloading and ADS, lack of recoil, terrible reaction time of your enemies, etc. Now there’s going to be a media outcry. As a Norwegian I highly wish for nothing but the worst for this man, but it has to be said; videogames aren’t hated on by the Norwegian people. Sure, there may be a couple of articles in our major newspapers, but that’s about it. The only thing I can think of that has been baned from sales is the movie “A serbian Movie”, which the Norwegian government isn’t alone about. This guy is a f**king douchebag, and deserves the worst our laws can give him, but I don’t think a couple of lines of him calling one of the best selling games of all-time a murder simulator will have any kind of impact. If it’s going to be, I’m sure as h*ll going to stand up, as a citizen of Norway, as a gamer and as a moderator on Norway’s largest tech-related forum.
So what? People get inspired negatively and positively every day. It is the intent that matters. If someone is set to do something, he will do it and he will find that inspiration in something. If it wasn’t COD, it would have been something else. But it’s okay for the world to charge us for oil, it’s okay to kill thousands in our wars, it’s okay that we kill our children, quietly, with the kind of the world we are leaving to them. all those things are not as bad cause we are used to them but it doesn’t mean that they are good
What I think it is “funny” in all this story is that when things like this happens people try to find reasons and most of the time people blame video games.

Of course the guy who goes on a killing spree is a COD fanboy… If he just played battlefield instead.. he would of been inspired to join the military and do some good in the world.

Don’t worry about it. Norway and Norwegians do not consider games guilty in his crimes. Games won’t be banned, not even more restricted. I haven’t seen this in the Norwegian news at all, this is completely blown up by international press.
I agree with A Norwegian when he says that this will hopefully not change anything, but it’s still sad that some people will twist this to blame video games in some way. There is a n obvious difference between correlation and causality here. Of course he didn’t kill these people because he played video games, but whatever made him kill these people might have made him play video games. Had he been in the military had he gotten his training there. This is obviously a sick man, and he deserves the full extent of the Norwegian law, but in no way should we, or anyone condemn anyone in the video game society.

I am also serving in the military and know what it’s like to train for and perform a real op. This dick has a hard on for guns and thinks he learned more from MW2. Idiot needs to get out more.

Well, I play a lot of sports games, but that really hasn’t improved my batting swing or my jump shot in real life. I guess that’s because real life is different from playing ANY video game.

Well Modern Warfare 2 came out back in 2009. These tweets/comments or whatever are from 2009 since he says “its the hottest game this year”.
Anyway MW2 isn’t a good training simulator. It doesn’t teach you how to shoot a gun. It doesn’t teach you how to aim correctly. All these things need to be learned in real-life with REAL GUN. Some kid can’t just play Modern Warfare 2 and call himself a trained killer lmfao.
